The Beginner’s Guide to Meeting INFJs

The INFJ personality type is one of the rarest 16 Myers-Briggs personality types; making up under 3 percent of the population. If you’re interested in meeting INFJs, the prospect of finding one can seem impossible!

After discovering I was an INFJ, I felt like I finally had a guide to my own personality that made sense. I’d spent over 20 years trying to fit in with everyone around me, but it felt like something was missing.

I wasn’t being authentic and I didn’t love the person I was becoming. After learning about my personality type, I immediately wanted to connect with other individuals who were similar to me. But where could I find other INFJs?

I asked my close friends to take the MBTI test, but none tested INFJ. As an introvert, the obvious next step to finding other INFJs was the internet. I found a great INFJ community through a Facebook group and made several good friends who I’m still close to today.

The Beginner’s Guide to Meeting INFJs

If you’re just beginning to learn about your personality type or are wanting to meet other INFJs but not sure where to start, here are some places to help you connect with others who share your unique personality.

Facebook

There are several great Facebook groups where you can meet and connect with similar personality types.

Most of these groups are closed (meaning your “regular” Facebook friends can’t see what you post), which makes them extremely INFJ and introvert-friendly.

  • INFJs Are Awesome: This is the original INFJ group I joined when I discovered my personality type. I’m no longer a member of the group but am friends with some of the admins and it’s still pretty active.
  • Introvert, Dear: This group is associated with the online publication Introvert, Dear. Although the group is for all introverted personality types, the majority are INFJs.
  • INFJ: This is probably the largest INFJ Facebook group, with over 16,000 members. If you’re looking for a quick place to connect with INFJs it is probably a good place to start.

Twitter

This blog started as a Twitter account back in 2011. Twitter has a large and diverse community of INFJs and introverts from all over the world.

Since 2011, Twitter has grown tremendously in the number of accounts that provide interesting and relatable information about being an INFJ. Search #INFJ and #INFJproblems for funny and engaging Tweets.

Check out Im_INFJ (full disclosure: this is my account) and who I follow as well as my followers if you want to connect with other INFJ Twitter accounts. There are so many out there now if I started to name them all I wouldn’t know where to stop!

tips for meeting infjs

Meetup.com

It’s fun to meet people online (and may be preferable for many introverts) but some INFJs may still feel a strong desire to connect with other INFJs in person.

On Meetup.com you can find or start a Meetup group near you on nearly any topic imaginable. You may have more luck finding an established group if you live in or near a big city — but if you don’t you can always start one in your own town.

Even if there’s not an INFJ or MBTI-related group, there may be groups related to introversion or hobbies INFJs enjoy, such as reading, writing, art and more. (It’s safe to bet that you would be more likely to meet another INFJ at a local book club than a night club.)

Tip: I met my current significant other at an MBTI-related Meetup event, so if you’re looking for more than just friendship… I’m just saying, it can work! I found that it’s not unusual for people to go to these events alone so don’t worry about going solo!

Project Evolve

Project Evolve is a free dating site where you can search and connect with people near you based on MBTI type and Enneagram Instincts. However, the site also gives you the option to set your status as friendship-only if you’re not looking for a romantic partner.

Like most online dating sites, you can view profiles and send messages to people you want to connect with. There are also forums where you can discuss and ask questions about personality type, enneagram, dating and relationships.
